Are you looking for the perfect hot chocolate recipe to warm you up on a cold winter day? Look no further! I came across this easy and delicious recipe from another reader who swore it was, “The Worlds Best Hot Chocolate”. I decided to make it one year for a Christmas pajama movie night, and well it’s been a staple during the cold months ever since. So if you want to make smooth dreamy crock-pot hot chocolate, keep reading.

This recipe is not only incredibly easy to make, but it also results in a rich and creamy beverage that will leave you and your crowd craving more. This is mess-free by using a crockpot, instead of having to constantly stir the mixture on the stove. I mean who doesn’t love the simplicity of a good crock-pot recipe?! This dreamy smooth winter drink is a stand-out and a perfect blend of flavor with real chocolate chips, milk, and cream. I am not saying to go throw out all of your Swiss Miss packets, but you can go ahead and put them away!

Making this hot chocolate does not take much prep at all and then just have it cook for a couple of hours. Once ready it’s time to get out your favorite mug and for an extra touch of indulgence, you can top your hot chocolate with whipped cream, marshmallows, or even a drizzle of chocolate syrup. The possibilities are endless, especially for an event or hot chocolate bar.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • 14oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 6 cups whole milk
  • 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (milk chocolate chips, or semi-sweet chocolate chips)

Directions:

Add all the ingredients to the crock pot and whisk together until well combined. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally, until warm throughout and the chocolate is melted. Whisk well before filling your mug, add your toppings, and enjoy!

You can also make this Dairy-free by using canned coconut cream in the place of the heavy cream. Use dairy-free sweetened condensed milk. Use your favorite non-dairy milk instead of whole milk.

This recipe makes about 3 quarts, so make sure your crock pot has the capacity. My crock-pot from Target is no longer sold but Walmart has a 7-quart which is perfect for cook & carry!

Keep your temperature on low to avoid burning or scorching the milk. You can keep this hot chocolate warm for about 4 hours using the warm setting on your crockpot. Just be sure to give it a good stir before serving!

Also, you can use white chocolate, dark chocolate, butterscotch, mint chocolate, or salted caramel chips – I mean whatever your heart desires so many delicious possibilities!

This is not only a treat for yourself but also fantastic to serve at gatherings and special occasions. Whether it’s a cozy night in with your loved ones, a holiday party with friends, a baby shower, or a corporate event this hot chocolate will be a hit with everyone. You can easily double or triple the recipe to accommodate a larger crowd, and the crock pot will keep the hot chocolate warm for hours, allowing your guests to help themselves whenever they desire. It’s the perfect way to spread warmth and joy during the colder months.
